Roxie was rushed to BluePearl Veterinary Partners hospital. After examining the X-ray, doctors quickly realized surgery would be necessary if Roxie were to survive. But the estimated cost, about $5,000, was more than Hudson could afford. That’s when national pet charity, Frankie’s Friends, stepped in to help raise funds on Roxie’s behalf. The organization provides financial assistance to families with pets who need life-saving care.

From midnight to 11:59 p.m. on May 3, Tampa Bay area residents are encouraged to participate in Give Day Tampa Bay, a 24-hour, online giving event designed to increase philanthropy in the Tampa Bay area and raise awareness of the work local nonprofits do in the community. The Cromans have made generous donations to the national charity Frankie’s Friends, which pays for life-saving or life-enhancing care for pets, for families who cannot afford the full cost of treatment.

“We’re just so grateful,” Jones said. “I don’t know what we would have done without their help.” The surgery, performed Saturday night, was a success. By Sunday afternoon, King was reunited with Jones and the rest of her family.

Frankie’s Friends hosted Lucky Dog Casino Night at District 3 Arts & Events in Tampa on November 5.
With a goal of making it easier for more minority students to have real-world experiences shadowing emergency veterinarians and board-certified specialists, an anonymous donor is making possible externships for minority veterinary students at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa.
Law enforcement officers and military personnel are receiving valuable K-9 first aid training thanks to a collaboration between Frankie’s Friends and the widow of Tampa Police Department Cpl. Mike Roberts.
"This is a huge weight off my shoulders," said Vixen's dad, a retired grandfather of six. Unable to afford the full cost of surgery, he did not know where to turn.
