Frankie’s Friends helped Piglet get the lifesaving PEG tube surgery for Cricopharyngeal achalasia which means there is a muscle in Piglet’s throat that would not relax. This is a note from Piglet’s family.

Hi, my name is Piglet and I was born October 24, 2020. I stay with my fur mom until January 2021 then I found my forever family. I live with my human mom and dad, my nana and my twin human sisters also there is my big brother, bear, my big sister (who thinks she is my mom) Winnie, my little brother Eeyore and a cat named Tigger. (Yes my human family has the hundred acre woods) For the first day with my new family, my mom noticed that I had a choking problem. She took me to the vet and they thought maybe I was just eating too fast, she brought a slow feeder and tried all the tricks the vet told her. When I went to the vet to get spayed (don’t know what that is but I had a good sleep) the vet looked down my throat and notice pus pockets, she sent out a sample and it came back as strep throat and bordello. I had to take medicine (yuck). My human mom thought that might be the reason I was choking but no it wasn’t. The vet then sent me to Blue Pearl Orlando for a swallow study but I wouldn’t lay down and eat for them. My mom, my twin sisters and I went to a grand opening of a doggy daycare where we met Dr. Roger Welton. He was in the middle of getting his clinic open. When his clinic opened in February 2023, I went to visit him and he did a Barium swallow study and that is when I received my possible diagnosis of Cricopharyngeal achalasia which means there is a muscle in my throat that will not relax so I can swallow. Dr. Welton then sent me to another Dr who would not think about surgery until I got the stand up swallow study. Which now brings me to July 27th when I went to Blue Pearl of Tampa and met wonderful people (at least that is what my mom tells me). Dr. Mears was very worried about doing the test and possibly surgery because I was very skinny. Please don’t blame my family cause they love me so much that they would feed me 4 to 6 times a day, I would just choke it up. Dr. Reams and mom decided to put the tube into my tummy and feed my through that so I can get my calories and nutrients and get big and strong so I can do the swallow study and possibly surgery, but none of this would have been possible without Frankie’s Friends. Mom didn’t have the money for my peg tube and she was very worried that I wouldn’t have much time with her. Until Frankie’s Friends came in and donated the rest of the money that my mom didnt have. My mom has told everyone about Frankie’s Friends and how they should donate because I am living proof.
Love,
Piglet
Thank you Frankie’s Friends and everyone who has donated to Frankie’s Friends, without you I would not be able to pay for Piglets peg tube surgery and probably not have much time with her. Words will never express how appreciative and happy I am that my baby is on the right road to a long and happy life. If you are looking for a charity to donate, please donate to Frankie’s Friends as Piglet is living proof of it.
Love and appreciation
