RETIREMENT ASSETS

Donating part or all of your unused retirement assets, such as your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension or other tax-deferred plan, is an excellent way to make a gift to Frankie’s Friends.  Consider a gift of your unused retirement assets to help further our mission and save pets’ lives.

Retirement Assets and Your Family

Both income and estate taxes may claim 60-70% of your retirement plan assets if you leave them to non-spousal family members at your death.  A better option may be leave assets like stock or real estate (with a stepped up basis) to your heirs with some or all of your remaining retirement plan balance passing to Frankie’s Friends through a gift by beneficiary designation.

Benefits of Gifts of Retirement Assets

  • Avoid potential estate tax on retirement assets

  • Reduce income taxes for your heirs

  • Easy to complete through a change of beneficiary form

  • Establish a lasting legacy to Frankie’s Friends

How to Make a Gift of Retirement Assets

If you designate Frankie’s Friends as a death beneficiary, we will benefit from the full value of your gift undiminished by any taxes - this means that we can help more pets in need of life-saving veterinary care. You will need to complete a beneficiary designation form provided by your retirement plan custodian.  Your estate will also receive a charitable deduction for the value of plan assets passing to us.

Your donations helped Eri receive the emergency treatment she needed for severe head trauma.

“Thank you SO much Frankie’s Friends and the team at BluePearl Vet in Kirkland WA for helping my dearest Eri. When she had sustained serious head trauma and was bleeding profusely from her ears I was so scared. I could not afford her full treatment alone but thanks to Frankie’s Friends we were able to get Eri back to her normal, adorable, lovely self! She is my best friend and family member. Thank you for giving her a second shot at life!!!”– Eri’s Family
