Frankie’s Friends National Fund helped Tatsu receive emergency treatment for wound care. This is a note from Tatus’s family.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. We are so extremely grateful for the donors and this organization. Our Shiba, Tatsu, is only one year old (12 months) and has been through hell and back. The shelter we adopted him from had gotten him from a puppy mill. He was being fostered out for a little while due to his nervousness. After we adopted him, we had him for almost 2 months until he got loose and ran away. He was missing for another 2 months and at that point, we didn’t think he would come home. We never gave up hope and by some miracle he was found under a families deck. When I first got the call and they said “this dog only has 3 legs”, I instantly thought, that’s not him. Sure enough, he still had his collar and tags and they barely made out my phone number! We have no idea what happened to his leg.. we can only imagine what he went through in that time but, we are so happy that he is home. It’s been a month now since he’s returned and he has been to the vet many times to treat and examine his leg. They’ve been treating it like an abscess and allowing it to drain, since it was pretty infected. He’s been on antibiotics and pain medicine and it’s starting to look great! All that’s left to do, is scrape out more tissue and bone (femur) to keep it from continually getting infected. With the help of the donors and this organization, we can finally get this procedure done and he can start progressing even more so!
