Frankie’s Friends’ Vet Care for Rescues Grant Program helped Cajun receive life-saving intussusception surgery.
“Cajun is a 6 month old dachshund mix with a huge spirit and a stomach that never stops talking. He came to us thin and struggling. Arizona Wellness Clinic evaluated him for EPI (Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency is the inability to produce sufficient digestive enzymes) and for megaesophagus. Nothing explained why he kept getting worse. He stopped eating. His energy sank. We knew we needed answers fast.
An internal medicine specialist found the problem. Cajun had an intussusception. His intestines folded into themselves. He needed emergency surgery to survive. It was a race against time.
Our rescue team said yes and moved him into surgery right away. The bill was big. The risk was bigger. Cajun fought through every step.
A week later he shocked us all. He eats with joyful focus. He gains weight. His strength grows each day. His intestines work. His spark is back. For the first time in his short life he gets to feel full and playful. He now has a chance at a long and happy life filled with treats and love.”
