Frankie’s Friends’ Vet Care of Rescues Grant Program helped Petey receive urgently needed surgery for a painful limb fracture.

We are so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to receive
assistance for Petey, our 10-month-old blind and deaf pup
who is also facing a painful broken leg. Despite the odds
stacked against him, Petey is full of love, trust, and the
will to live. Support for his care means the world to
us—it gives him the chance to heal, to grow, and to
know a life filled with safety, comfort, and joy. Thank you
for giving him a second chance.

Petey Update from Runaway’s Animal Rescue: We’re thrilled to share that Petey’s surgery was a success! As always, Dr. Mayne and her amazing team at Wildflower Veterinary Surgery took incredible care of him, and we’re so grateful.

Petey is now resting comfortably in his foster mom’s home—but now comes the real challenge: keeping a blind puppy calm during 8–12 weeks of recovery! According to his foster, Petey already feels like a million bucks and wants nothing more than to run and play like nothing ever happened.

Of course, he’s on strict crate rest for now, so he’ll be getting lots of mental enrichment and cuddles instead! His resilience (and stubborn spirit!) just goes to show how tough and inspiring animals truly are.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated toward Petey’s surgery. And a huge shoutout to Dr. Mayne and the staff at Wildflower Veterinary Surgery for always coming through when we need them most! As well as Frankie's Friends for matching donations up to $900 to help make this surgery possible in a timely manner

It was a true team effort to make sure Petey received the surgery he needed, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who made it possible.

Petey’s just getting started on his comeback story!
