Frankie’s Friends’ Joshua Louis Animal Cancer Fund is helping Lilly receive life-saving chemotherapy.

I don’t know where to begin to express my gratitude. Lilly means more to me than words can convey, and any generosity extended to her leaves me all the more unable. If you’ll allow me to rely on some cliches for a moment… Lilly is not just my dog, she is my best friend, my constant companion, my anchor…

For instance, when I first adopted her in early 2021, COVID was still running rampant. I had just graduated from the University of Tampa, I was working from home, and none of my friends lived close enough to see regularly. In one of the most uncertain and loneliest times of my life, Lilly gave me the gift of comfort, consistency, and purpose.

Similarly, within the next year, Lilly was a guiding light for me when I was diagnosed as autistic. As I learned more about my condition and how to navigate neurodivergence, I decided to self-train her as a service animal. With time and research, I taught her to do tings like remind me to take my daily medications and recognize/comfort me when I’m anxious.

Receiving help with Lilly’s cancer treatment helps relieve the emotional and financial burdens I’ve been shouldering since her diagnosis in late April. The less I have to focus on financial constraints, the more I can focus on providing her with all the love and support she has always given me.

So, thank you — you for your consideration, for reading my story, for running this organization and providing this service, for any opportunity or contribution that lets my beloved best friend breathe joy into this world for as long as humanely possible.
