Frankie’s Friends helped Shadow receive surgery so he can walk pain free.

“I lost 3 pets during 2019/2020 (2 cats and a dog). Being devastated is more than words could say. During the pandemic was even worse, having to drop my pets at the door and not being with them during their final moments was even worse. I promised myself that I would never adopt another pet. I was so heart broken. Then, my friend adopted Shadow 12/2021. I met him once. In April, 2022 she called and indicated that Shadow was too much for her and she was returning him. I told her to bring him to me instantly. I think it was winter of 2023 that Shadow was diagnosed {at Hickory} with hip dysplasia. And winter/spring of 2026 he tore his first ACL. I had to borrow the funds to pay for that $4500 procedure. He had surgery May 2026 for the repair. Because of my financial limitations we opted with no hardware. He has not been healing as hoped. The suggestion has been to remove the previous sutures, as they may be causing some irritation. Before we could do that, unfortunately my pup has since tore his other ACL. The scream that Shadow let out reduced me to tears in the parking lot! . In that moment, I was so broken, knowing that the cost of any procedure would be financially unbearable. I was left in tears before and after his exam. Because his previous procedure hasn’t healed as well as expected, the surgeon has recommended a TPLO this time, accompanied with removal of the sutures from his previous procedure. The estimate at the time was between $6500 and $8000. Shadow turns 5, September 15, 2026. I believe he has a long life to live and he is so loved and cared for. I am unemployed and in need of assistance to care for my fuzzy son. He is non-ambulatory without significant assistance and my heart aches with every step he takes. I went to the internet in hopes to find something to help US and came across your organization. I applied for Care Credit and have been approved for $3000. I have secured donations of another $2000. With your help, I can see the finish line. I implore you to consider my application, please! And I thank you in advance for your consideration. P.S. I care for 6 stray cats that have shown up on my porch in the last several years as well. I have trapped them, had them fixed, feed them and provide shelter for them as well. I have love and compassion for them all and I am doing the very best that I can. Shadow is my child and I do not want to lose him. I am giving all that I have in hopes to continue his care. Thank you. ”
