Frankie’s Friends’ Crucial Care Fund helped Lucy receive a life-saving limb amputation after receiving a mast cell tumor diagnosis.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read Lucy’s story and for considering helping us. Lucy is not just my dog she is my family, my constant companion, and a survivor in every sense of the word.

Lucy came into my life this past September when I rescued her from the shelter. She had already endured more than any dog ever should. She had been used for breeding most of her life and was later hit by a car, leaving her unable to walk and turned in at animal care shelter. I took her in, rehabilitated her, and slowly watched her regain strength, trust, and joy. Just when it felt like she had finally reached safety, we received the devastating diagnosis of cancer.

Since then, our lives have revolved around vet visits, tests, medications, and difficult decisions, including the recommendation for amputation to give her the best chance at a pain-free life. Lucy is incredibly gentle, quiet, and loving. She doesn’t complain, even when she’s hurting. She simply leans into me for comfort, trusting that I will do everything I can to protect her.

This journey has come during one of the hardest periods of my life. I recently lost my grandmother who raised me and covered her funeral expenses, while also just starting a new job and doing everything possible to stay afloat emotionally and financially. Despite all of this, Lucy remains my anchor. On the hardest days, she is the reason I keep going.

Receiving assistance from Frankie’s Friends means more than financial help; it means hope. It means knowing that Lucy’s life matters to others, that her suffering is seen, and that kindness still exists in moments when things feel overwhelming. Your generosity helps me focus on what matters most: giving Lucy comfort, dignity, and the chance to continue living the life she fought so hard to have.

Thank you for caring, for helping families like ours, and for being a light during some of the darkest moments. No matter the outcome, I am deeply grateful for your compassion and for everything you do for animals who cannot speak for themselves.
