Frankie’s Friends helped Pudgy receive an urgent paw amputation.
“To the donors and staff of Frankie’s Friends,
I’m a disabled veteran living on a fixed income, and I share my small apartment with two teenage boys I’ve recently taken in—and my best friend, Pudgy.
Pudgy is my ESA. He’s the reason I get out of bed on hard days. He’s the one who curls up next to me when the weight of the world feels too heavy. He is an alarm when it’s time to take my medications. He talks to me in little meows that sound like actual conversations. He’s been my anchor through job loss, dental pain, and the chaos of building a new life.
A few weeks ago, a heavy piece of equipment fell on him. His left front leg was badly broken—both bones, dangling. I rushed him to the vet, but I couldn’t afford the surgery. I applied for every grant. I called every rescue. I was told to put him down more times than I can count.
I refused.
Pudgy is scheduled for amputation this Thursday. The cost is far beyond what I can pay on my own. But thanks to Frankie’s Friends, there’s a chance I won’t have to choose between my car payment and my cat’s life.
If you choose to help us, you aren’t just funding a surgery. You’re giving Pudgy a future without pain. You’re letting him jump on my bed again. You’re letting him meow at me for treats. You’re letting him be my anchor for years to come.
And you’re telling a disabled veteran who has been told “no” too many times: We see you. Your cat matters. You matter.
Thank you for considering us.
