Our Princess

Fernandez, Princess pic1 Hello,

My name is Nerys Fernandez and over the past seven months you have helped our family with the care of our dog Princess. This family isn't complete without her and because of the financial service you provided us, we were able to give Princess a fighting chance in her battle with her cancer. You have provided help and support for Princess and we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Unfortunately my baby girl Princess just passed away on July 30. I really want to thank the foundation donors for helping us give Princess the help she needed. There aren't enough thank yous in the world that could explain how we feel. A cute story from my grandson: he said when he gets older he is going to be rich and give the foundation a big check for helping Princess. :)

Teddy, King of Our World

Teddy McDowell 2013 08 01Teddy was the king of his world who lived a long life because he refused to give in to his heredity! He was a special guy who will always be remembered as the sole owner of his backyard-he is missed by squirrels, birds and his Mom and Dad!

Zoey

Zoey was a truly exceptional dog who loved every dog, cat and person that she met. We were blessed with only six short years, but even though we are deeply saddened by our loss, we are grateful that we knew her and got to celebrate her life. The Pfaltzgraf Family

Hannah, our friend and neighbor, Grace's wonderful dog

Hannah, You have touched so many lives. Grace & Chloe love & miss you.

They will not go quietly, the pets who've shared our lives. In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives. Old habits still can make us think we hear them at the door Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor. Our feet still go around the place the food dish used to be, And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly. And although time may bring new friends and a new food dish to fill, That one place in our hearts belongs to them... and always will.

Kasha, on Mother's Day

This gift is in memory of Kasha Hornick-Becker, our beloved family dog who recently passed away, and in honor of our mom, Amy,  on Mother's Day. Our mother, Amy, is a caring, loving, and supportive pet mommy (and people mommy too). Kasha was loved deeply and will be missed, but we know that Amy gave her the greatest life a dog could wish for.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Basia - Take Care and Wait for Us

In memory of our sweet little kitty, Ms. Basia B. McWilliams. From the second we met, truly a moment of pure fate when we accidentally ran over you with the car as you hid in fear from being lost, until the day I held you in my arms 13 years later as you passed on, you've brought nothing but pure joy into our lives. My heart aches so much for all the pain you had to suffer through your illness, and the guilt weighs heavily on my heart about making the right choices for you at the right time , but none of that outweighs the love I will always feel for you in my heart.

Take care and wait for us until it's time for us to join you again. Find the softest beds with the best burrowing covers, the fluffiest pile of cats to nestle into when you feel lonely, the shiniest sink with the fanciest faucet to drink from, and the recliner with the best window view of the birds for us to share when I get there. And be happy while you wait.

We will never, ever forget the little Polish stranger that changed our lives for the better every day for 13 whole years. We love you, Basia. God speed, my sweet little friend, and thank you for everything.

Love to you always and forever,

Beth, Tof, Aidan, and Miles Barnum, Bailey, and Bianca

Hudson

Hudson was only with us for two short years, but in that time he made a huge impact on many people. He was a big friendly goofball and was always up for an adventure. Hudson will be missed. - Caroline

Nash and Silver, Together Again

Nash left us on October 8, 2012. He was with us through for 14 years, through several close calls, which could have taken him sooner, but each time he pulled through because he wanted to stay with the ones who loved him. He finally used his nine lives on October 8 and met with his mate Silver who passed away on September 11. We love and miss them terribly. We found out he had cancer somewhere in his intestine and Silver was diagnosed with cancer in her esophagus. Mercifully they did not suffer long and went to heaven to play and run free! - Debra

Snookums

“Snookum’s” Lacey was a sweet dog who greeted you with so much happiness and love every time you saw her. She is missed deeply and loved by many who knew her! We love you, sweet Lacey!

Love,

Our Little Girl, ChuChu

ChuChu was the love of mommy for many years. She was a gorgeous little girl that we all adored. We will always remember you as our little girl. - Linda

Reilly-Girl

Copper-colored Reilly-girl golden was adopted (rescue) as an adult by our friend Cheryl Craver to join already-resident light golden Rylee-boy in Canmore, Alberta. The fact that they had the same name was a coincidence, hence the girl/boy designation. Both dogs hiked and skied with Cheryl in the Canadian Rockies and enjoyed the golden life in their small community where the threesome was well-known and loved. Reilly-girl slipped over the Rainbow Bridge last summer and will be greatly missed by Cheryl, Rylee-boy and their friends. -Stan and Anne

Shep

Shep was an Australian shepherd and Labrador mix. He was one of seven puppies our lab-mix, Scout, gave birth to on our sofa. Of the seven, he was the only one with the Australian shepherd markings. He was just beautiful. From the start he proved to be somewhat of a "Marley," but his love and loyalty for our family far outweighed his antics. He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in July 2011. He underwent about six weeks of chemo before he passed away September 8, 2011, just a month shy of his 10th birthday. His treatments and care, though expensive, were worth it because his was a life worth saving. And even though we were not able to save him, we would like to give to a family in honor of Shep. Maybe this donation will help them save their four-legged baby. Shep truly was our most loyal companion and we miss him everyday. - Jenny

Dakota, Victoria's 'Heart' Dog

Dakota was my heart dog, my novice and everything dog.  He introduced me to agility and achieved his master agility championship in three years.  He was my first obedience dog.  He will always hold a special place in my heart, and I think of him often.  His only desire was to love and please me, and he gave me so much in his years on this earth.

Meghan - Time to Live and Time to Love

149My heart goes out to all of you… the founders, the board, the vets, the owners and most of all the PATIENTs who have benefitted from your funds. I am honored that we are able to be a recipient of your assistance, although I would not wish this on anyone. 150I have set up a public Silpada party to benefit Frankie’s Friends which I will do for a few months or longer as response indicates. I am forever grateful for the TIME you have given us… Here is a lil blip I wrote this am to friends and family and shared on your Facebook page, too. Many of you know what is like to love a pet so deeply that the thought of losing them makes it near impossible to B R E A T H E! Others do not and that is okay! For I pray that someday you get to experience the joy and unconditional love of a dog! GOD>DOG<GOD

photo (2)Ground Zero for the Beginning of the End for us was Dec 8, 2012, my deceased Father’s birthday. At bedtime, I discovered enlarged Lymph nodes on Mehgan’s legs and Neck! My heart sank and tears flowed like a tsunami crashing on the shores… see I knew, I just knew this was Lymphoma. Day One Dec 10, 2012 Confirmation: High Grade Lymphoblastic Lymphoma Stage IIIa I am very GRATEFUL and ANGRY at the same time… Still processing all of this. ANGRY because they live such short lives!!!! More GRATEFUL, today because this means I am Choosing to show her every day, even more, how much I love her because tomorrow may not come.

Meghan 3This lesson is a powerful one. We all need to live as if tomorrow may never come, with our humans and fur friends. I lost my Gidget in 2000 on the same day that she was diagnosed with Hemangiosoarcoma. I was NOT granted the TIME with her! My world crumbled to pieces that day! I was so bitter with GOD and sought answers to questions that were unanswerable.

From the day Meghan chose us at AWL Animal Shelter I have prayed for TIME. Time with Meghan …time to live, time to love, time help, time to know! So here we are! We are treating her with Chemo WIS Protocol, modified because of her history. This is a 6 month treatment with hopes of remission in 4 weeks. Or the Prognosis will deteriorate. Treating her most likely renders us another year or more of QUALITY life. Historically patients not treated at all die within weeks or month.

006Most of you understand the gravity and love in our decision. Those that don’t I ask for your support anyway. She is our FUR CHILD and my love for her will never end. Spirits and hopes high for this journey. Dec 11, 2012 Mehgan is responsive to Week One Treatment of Vincristine as many of her lymph nodes are smaller this morning. She is eating and drinking and you would never know she is fighting this “C” word like so many loved ones have before. I am grateful, for the knowledge and research we have today. For the love and support of my husband, Darrin. For the understanding of friends and colleagues and church For the Staff and Doctors of Blue Pearl: Oncology, Tampa For Frankie’s Friends www.frankiesfriends.com for helping fund Mehgan’s treatment plan.
