“Simba” is a beloved 6 year old cat of a Skokie family. Presented to BluePearl Skokie, “Simba” was refusing food, vocalizing discomfort and making frequent trips to the litterbox.  Upon physical exam, Dr Katie Bazewicz immediately diagnosed him with an urethral obstruction.  Facing a life-threatening illness requiring around-the-clock nursing care, Simba's family had limited financial resources and was unable to obtain CareCredit.

Given “Simba’s” potential for a good prognosis with treatment, Dr Bazewicz reached out to Frankie’s Friends for help.  The charity was able to provide the funds “Simba” urgently needed.  After a procedure to unobstruct his urethra and a few days of loving care in the hospital, he made a full recovery.  Thanks to Frankie’s Friends and the caring BluePearl team, “Simba” survived his illness and was happily reunited with his family.

We are all so grateful to our Frankie's Friend partners whose mission is to finding cures
and saving pets with cancer and other life-threatening conditions.

And, thank you, Skokie associates for the tender, loving care and treatment you provided for Simba and his pet parents.
