Frankie’s Friends’ Vet Care for Rescues Grant Program helped Knuffle receive emergency care for a jaw fracture.
“This poor baby ended up at Veterinary Emergency Group with a cracked jaw that dangled precariously from his little face. 😭😣 We have no idea what happened to this poor baby.
Whatever might have happened, it has left him with a terrible bilateral mandible fracture (broken jaw). 😞 And heartbreakingly, according to our specialist, surgery cannot remedy this break and he has recommended that this sweet puppy wear a loose-fitting nylon muzzle for five weeks.
He also recommended that an esophagostomy tube (inserted into the side of the neck) should be placed for feeding, which has now been done. After five weeks of this, he will need to be fed a slurry of wet food for another month. ❤️🩹 This poor baby has endured so much pain, and we don’t even want to think about the horrors he has gone through. 💔 We are determined to do everything possible to keep him comfortable and help him heal. While he can’t be the care-free, playful puppy, he wants to be right now, at least he is safe and getting the care he needs.
Thank you Frankie’s Friends for donating towards his esophagoscopy tube placement at Harmony Vet Care. 🙏 Big shoutout to VEG as well for keeping this pup stable over the weekend and helping us save him. ”
Pupdate on Knuffle from ALDR: He is loving his sling time with foster mom and hanging out with his rescue big sister. He is doing great with tube-feeding and his foster mom has been doing an incredible job with his bandage changes. He has now been adopted and is fitting right in with his new family.
