Maggie is Her Joyful Self...

maggie1Dear Zeus Varis Fund Staff, About a month and a half ago, our energetic puggle named Maggie, had been diagnosed with an aggressive Lymphoma. At the urging of my local vet, we had been referred to the Blue Pearl Clinic in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

At the clinic we had met with Dr. Brooke Britton, who had been Maggie's guardian angel ever since. Dr. Britton had discussed with us Maggies's diagnosis as well as her options. She had also made us aware of the fund and its qualifications...20130831_202028

Today is week 4 of Maggies's treatment. Her appetite and demeanor are normal, side effects are thankfully non-existent; she is stable, but most importantly her old joyful self. We don't know what the future holds for our little Maggie, but we are forever grateful to your organization for allowing us to give her a fighting chance. We couldn't have done it without you and Dr. Britton's genuine kindness and care.20130917_101406

We are attaching a few snapshots of our little sunshine and pray for a miracle. Thank you again for extending a helping hand - our gratitude to you is eternal.

Thank you

On behalf of Maggie and our family, Sofia Zeltser.

Oliver is a Champ!

Oliver in his coneI am ecstatic to be able continue Oliver's care and assure that he has many more years to come. He is doing well right now, recovering quickly from his surgery. On a recent bandage change visit, a vet tech let us know that he is heeling quite rapidly and using his foot sooner than expected. Having lots of visitors and well wishers as well as extra chicken in his diet has definitely helped! He has bounced back so quickly I know that whatever treatments he has in front of him in the future, he'll be able to handle like a champ! I am so grateful to you and Frankie's Friends to continue his care! Thank you so much! Elysa Lozano

Tinkerbell is Fine - All it Took was Pixiedust and a Little Help from Frankie's Friends...

Tinkerbell 1There aren’t enough words to express how thankful my husband and I are to Frankie's Friends. Tinkerbell is a 5 yr old Mini Dachshund who was in labor for the 3rd time. But this time she had 5 babies and being a mini with a small frame, 5 was more than what she can handle. Her 1st was a beautiful baby girl, the 2nd was a still born, 3rd was a blue dapple baby boy, and after an hour of her pushing no more came out. That’s when we took her to BluePearl.

20121108_213343-1After doing an ultra sound they found she had 2 more unborn babies, but by the way they were positioned they hadn't survived. That’s when they told us she would need surgery . Something we weren’t prepared for financially, it was either surgery or she would die. We tried every means possible. The thought of losing her was unbearable.

Then Dr. Harris told us everything has been taken care of by Frankies Friends. Today Tinkerbell is back to being her crazy hyper self as she was before.

Frankie's Friends, Thank You So Very Much ... we wouldn’t be the same without you !!!

Very Grateful,

Vazquez Family

Rocky is a Champ! and the Hope Fund Helped...

Rocky 1Rocky is my 2 year old boxer. If it wasn't for you guys he would not be here today! On the morning of March 23 2013 My Husband and I woke up to Rocky crying. At first we thought he just had to go out. Then we heard what sounded like he was in the tub and struggling to get out. When we walked out of our bedroom we seen Rocky on the bathroom floor underneath a pile of blood. Rocky was not coherent and I started freaking out.

My husband rushed Rocky to the ER and after transfusion after transfusion they saved his life. At this time we were paying for our upcoming wedding in April , we have baby at home and I'm a full time student who works part time. We had NO money. We went into our savings and borrowed money to save Rocky. We just couldn't do anymore. But, before Rocky was better he still needed more work and medication...... we were at a stop!

That's when we found out about Frankie's Friends. If it wasn't for this amazing foundation Rocky wouldn't of made it! We are not sure what exactly happen to him. The doctors say he must of got into something in the trash or outside. All I know is now he is home where he belongs and we take every percussion to make sure he doesn't get in to anything. While he was gone his older sister Belle (a puggle, 5 years old) got really sad and as soon as he came home she was like a new pup.Rocky and Bella

Rocky is also a big brother to my 1 yr old son, who loves Rocky! He will sit there for hours crawling all over Rocky and laughing and gives him hugs. Rocky is amazing with my son and will sit there and let Connor do whatever to him but will just kiss him constantly.

Thank you for all of your help!

Rebecca, Matthew, Connor, Belle & Rocky Goedderz!

Cesar Receives Help from the Zeus Varis Fund... We Love Him More Than Anything

Pic3I would like thank everybody over at Frankie's Friends for providing me with me with the financial ability to get my 5.5 year old Maltese, Cesar, the cancer treatment that his oncologist recommended. When I found out how much his treatment would cost, I knew there was no way I could do it and I was besides myself in misery until Dr. Lachowicz over at Blue Pearl, NYC, informed me about the possibility of Frankie's Friends helping me out.

Cesar MoscatielloIf it was not for Frankie's Friends I would not have been able to provide Cesar with the cancer treatment that his Oncologist recommended.

Dottie, Sweet and Playful

Van Every, Dottie pic3Dear Friends at the Zeus Varis Fund, We realize that all pets are special members of families, and Dottie is no exception! She adopted us on June 29, 2008 at the North Shore Animal League. Waltzing over and planting wet kisses Van Every, Dottie pic2on my husband and I, we knew she was the one. Over the years she has been such an incredibly sweet and playful dog, always there to greet us, and everyone with loving kisses.

In 2011, when our daughter was born, Dottie more than welcomed her, and has become a real protector. She is hugely patient and sweet with our toddler and her antics. We always imagined them to be "BFFs" for many many years.

As you can imagine, Dottie's sickness, especially at such a young age, has been very difficult for all of us, and so we thank you sincerely for your generous support!

Van Every, Dottie pic1Warmest regards,

The Van Every Family

Little Lady Gets to Go Home with Help from our Hope Fund

LadyWe wanted to thank you so very much for the financial help you provided to help keep our special little dog, Lady, alive. She became gravely ill out of the blue and we were terrified of losing her. Rebecca Thomas and Lindsay Ingraham.

Frankie's Hope Fund Helps Magnificent Mary Jane!

maryjaneI wanted to share my amazing story regarding Frankie's and Friends. It’s difficult to really express my appreciation for the assistance from this wonderful organization this is how much it deeply touched me. My Princess Mary Jane is an amazing gift and overcoming the tragic situation makes me even more grateful she is in my life. I have been continuing to enjoy her love and time since the very second she was brought back home after foreign object surgery. For about a week or so I notice she was acting unusual with her eating habits and bowl movements so I took her to her primary care doctor and they said it was probably due to her being more sensitive as she ages so I took her home. A few days later she stop eating completely and a new symptom arouse. So at this point I'm terrified and took her in to the emergency center. I found by an x-ray that she had swallowed a corn on the cob. To this day I am still very puzzled as to how she even got a hold of this food object or even swallowed it. mary jane-1I had just had a baby a few months prior on money was tight and as much as it saddened me at felt there was nothing I could do at this point, a feeling of complete helplessness. Fearing the worst I took a break and stepped out for a drive to clear my mind and think. Preparing myself for the worst I had back to the center to pick Mary Jane up and take her home since I could not afford treatment. A miracle happened when I got back and they informed me of this amazing program I was able to participate in. Frankie's and Friends truly saved my daughter's life and for that we both will always remember that there is always hope.

One of the best qualities in Mary Jane is that she has always been loving and comforting! Since the surgery her love for me has grown in new ways and I am so grateful that I get to experience that affection everyday. I cannot wait to be able to give back to this amazing foundation.I am a true believer that pets have the most unconditional love you could ever experience, and because of Frankie’s Friends and the surgery Mary Jane received, I get to experience that with her for many, many more years to come. Thank you so much!!!!

Deepest Gratitude,

Damaris Gonzalez

Compassion and Support from the Zeus Varis Fund Help to Save Tigger

Tigger 1 Tigger is my 12 going on 2 year old pup. He is the most vivacious, fun loving, active, bratty, strong and oh so stubborn dog. You can, then, imagine our surprise and devastation when he was diagnosed with melanoma and given two months to live, without immediate surgery, vaccines, and radiation amounting to $12,000. While anyone who has ever loved a pet knows you can't put a price on a loved one's life, we simply didn't have the funds, and had to consider the possibility that we might have to let him go.

IMG_1438Our vet and the team at BluePearl, however, gave us a glimmer of hope when they introduced us to Frankie's Friends. That very same day, our doctor sent Tigger's paperwork to the organization. We called ourselves the following day, and happily found they already knew all about our case and were more than professional, compassionate, and willing to help. Words cannot express the appreciation we feel for all the help and financial support Frankie's Friends, BluePearl, and the Zeus Varis fund granted us. Without them my fiancee and I would have had to say goodbye to our best friend of twelve years. The day we found out we were receiving help, I instantly knelt on the floor and thanked God he made those with the heart, selflessness, and generosity to help another family they've never met. Because of their compassion and understanding, Tigger is running around the house chasing our cat just as I finish typing our story.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With greatest gratitude and appreciation,

Sandy Burnley, Jeff VanDewalker, and TiggerIMG_1273

Boomer is Better!

Boomer - pic 1I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the donors of Frankie's Friends very much for helping my Shitzu Boomer have his surgery. Blue Pearl Veterinary helped Boomer for several months treating his right eye to try and save his sight and eye, but I was financially unable to afford the expensive treatment and Boomer was suffering. He was living in an E collar for over three months and on pain medication. It was finally decided that his right eye could not be saved and for Boomer's future well being it had to be removed.

Thank you very much to Jessica Stein and her team at Blue Pearl Clearwater for taking very good care of Boomer. Within one week of having his right eye removed he was fully adjusted and totally pain free.

When my financial circumstance change I will not hesitate to donate to Frankie's Friends.

Thank you all very very much Andrea

My Best Friend Louie

Louie 1
Words could not express my gratitude for the grant that Frankie’s Friends awarded me for the treatment of my best friend Louie's lymphoma. I don't know what I would have done because I am a full time student at University of South Florida and work part time and would not have been able to afford to have Louie go through chemotherapy. Special thanks to our Oncologist Dr. Kane for his professionalism and to our family veterinarian, Dr. Logan with Louie's updates. Louie is responding well to and Dr. Kane seems to be happy with his progress.  I know Louie loves to go to see everyone at Blue Pearl on his treatment days because they make him feel comfortable and he let them know how he appreciates them with his singing.
I really want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my best friend. – Kristin Cannonlouie for website

Fashion News from the WSJ for Frankie's Friends

The Wall Street Journal reported on Ramy Sharps new fashion line and show. We’re delighted a percentage of proceeds from the show was donated to Frankie’s Friends.

Here’s an excerpt, and we’ve included the entire article for your viewing pleasure! Click on the photo for the entire article.

Ramy Brook WSJ FF“NEWS FROM WATER MILL, N.Y.—There were a lot of ladies wearing long beach dresses and colorful coverups celebrating the first fashion show of Ramy Brook the other day at a beachside home here on Dune Road. Ramy Brook is a fashion line by Ramy Sharp, a mother of three who splits her time between Bridgehampton and Manhattan. Her line of separates sells at, among other places, Shopbop and Neiman Marcus, but, because they are made in smaller quantities from more limited fabrics, the coverups are available mostly at smaller boutiques in the Hamptons. There were racks of Ms. Sharp’s upcoming collection and one-of-a-kind coverups. And there were friends selling jewelry, both vintage and contemporary. A percentage of trunk show sales would go to Frankie’s Friends, a favorite charitable pet foundation of Harriet Croman, the afternoon’s host.”
